The rain plops down.
The wind cuts bold.
The little plants shiver
in the damp…in the cold.
Yet it is May.
The little plants know
that this is the time
for them to grow.
So they lift their heads
from their chilly beds
to smile up at the sun,
and the joy they spread
from their flower bed
brings warmth to ev’ryone.
It is always an anxious moment when unexpected bad weather covers our flowers with heavy snow. Most often, as you remark, those delicate looking plants bow down to the load only to pop back up as soon as the snow melts. It’s always an unexpected delight
