My Candle Burns for Safety on the Journey

My candle burns for travelers along the nation’s roads.

They may have trusting passengers or other precious loads.

My candle burns for focused eyes, conditions near ideal,

for smart street-wise decisions and for safety at the wheel.

My candle burns for maintained care in vehicles they meet,

with other careful drivers who are sharing the same street.

My candle burns to light the traffic signals and the clues,

so ev’ryone’s successful in the journey that they choose.

John’s Kitty Kat

Precious Kitty is a cat

who’s made a bit of this and that.

Her pedigree is not pure blood,

but Kitty is no meek’ling dud.

She isn’t snarky, sassy, rude…

but she does have an attitude.

Her spirits give a lively boost.

She’s perky.  Wants to rule the roost.

She wants her ration of good food.

With petting, thinks her life is good.

Exploring. Hunting.  Climbing. Busy.

Focused, she.  No cat-like tizzy.

All her day she’s at her best.

At night, she’ll sleep with you to rest.

Toujours gai, says Precious Kitty.

Nationwide Winter Cold Advisory

It’s icy cold in Reno,

Delaware, and West Palm Beach.

Even in Atlanta, there is cold

to freeze a peach.

It’s icy in my driveway.

There’s white frost across my lawn.

The cold is setting records

and it isn’t moving on.

The thermostats are dropping.

Old Man Winter’s working hard.

The proof of all his efforts

is played out across  each yard!

My Candle’s Blessing

My candle burns for those who drive

the nation’s streets and highways,

guarding those who navigate

the endless routes and by-ways.

My candle burns to keep all safe

along the country’s roads…

motorcycles, buses, cars,

and trucks with heavy loads.

My candle burns for those along

to be there on the ride,

who watch the undulating route

and take it all in stride.

My candle burns for engines, brakes

and tires that go around,

turning, turning as they go

across the miles of ground.

My candle lifts its light to give

a path for all to see –

so all who travel on their way

can reach home – trouble free.

Evil Genies

The Evil Genies I have known

take one’s devices as their own.

They find devices strewn around

and confiscate them sans a sound.

They move right in. They take them over.

They relish them like sweetest clover.

What once was yours belongs to them —

now treasured as a precious gem.

You cannot win.  No use to try.

Device is gone.  Just say goodbye.

The Age is of Technology and

was not meant for you and me.

Believe my words, for they are true….

genies do what genies do.

Cause trouble.
