May blessings spread to all today
like warmth of summer sun.
And may we also give our thanks
for each and ev’ry one.
May blessings spread to all today
like warmth of summer sun.
And may we also give our thanks
for each and ev’ry one.
War’s a horror.
We all know.
It’s not the way
Mankind should go.
Life is Hell
when we’re at war.
Let’s just not do it anymore.
I’ve spent the day with butterflies.
It’s quiet in my garden.
It seems a soft and gentle space.
No lines to stiff and harden.
I’ve spent the day in solitude.
Yet, I’ve had company.
The friendly chatter of the birds.
The butterflies.
And me.
Let us spend the day together.
We can talk about the weather.
We can chat ‘bout prices rising…
if we’re good at exercising!
We’ll compare our failing health
and fret about our dwindling wealth.
We’ll fuss about the world condition—
Guess the world’s gone to Perdition!
We can wonder how life ends.
And look back on our years as friends.
There’s nothing I would rather do
than spend this pleasant day with you.
Today may beauty fill your eyes.
May joy lift up your heart.
And may a touch of sweet success
brush ev’rything you start.
Princess was a lonely cat
when she was one of three.
Now she is an Only Cat
who lives alone with me.
Somehow life is better.
Somehow life seems to agree.
She seems to be a diff’rent cat
right here, alone, with me.
It’s nice.
We cherry pick the world‘s bad news
to find the worst.
And then we choose
to blare it out across the nation.
Cause great angst and consternation.
Raise alarm and spike blood pressure.
Share distress to add good measure.
Aren’t some things going right?
Some good folks who lead the fight
for truth and justice ‘gainst the wrong?
Some things toodling right along?
Aren’t there people kind and good
who live in ev’ry neighborhood?
Aren’t there some things we can find
to cheer and elevate our mind?
I’ve come to dread the evening news
where sprightly anchors spread their views.
B
If I were a fairy princess,
I would wave my wand for you.
I’d pave a path with pixie dust
for you to amble through.
I’d paint a sky with rainbows
‘gainst a field of bluest blue.
And most of all, I’d fill my heart,
and share my love with you.
Princess walks along with me,
observing this and that.
She twines around,
and seems to be
an Ordinary Cat.
Eighteen years beneath the bed.
She’s had Enough of That!
It’s quite a joy, for her and me,
to find this Normal Cat.
Bunnies gather on the lawn
to gambol in the sun.
And as they frolic they’re alert
for plants to munch upon.
