The sun is rising over Cascade peaks,
turning the gloom to light.
It’s waking us up to another day,
chasing away the night.
The sun is rising over Cascade peaks,

chasing away the night.
In every waking minute,
another American dies.
In every sleeping minute,
another American dies.
The virus is relentless.
The toll continues to rise.
Seconds tick to minutes.
Another American dies.
May blessings rain on you today
like petals from the skies.
May joy await your every step
and bring you sweet surprise.
I’ve lighted a candle for you today
and pray you God’s Blessing in every way.
I have Corona Virus hair.
Long, and lank….a Straggly Affair.
But, no one comes.
I go no where.
So, no one sees my COVID hair.
The Guv has banned our lunch today.
He says that we can’t meet.
He says that we can’t gather –
in our homes or on the street.
He says we have to Stay at Home.
Wash Hands, and Wear a Mask!
And, I am happy to comply,
and do as I am asked.
So, don’t come to my house today.
I still will think of you.
We’ll have Champagne and Bon Bons
when these Virus Days are through.
Marianna
I have COVID-Eating-Itis.
It’s no wonder I’ve gained weight.
I eat my way all through the day
amazed at all I ate.
The fairies must have danced upon my lawn last night.
Somehow they made a shining day:–beautiful and bright.
They must have danced with joy and fun – danced with all their might,
’cause they made a day that’s full of hope, optimism, light.
What other explanation rings so clear and true?
I think it must be fairies. Don’t you?
I’m sending you a lullaby
because the day feels long.
I’m sending you a lullaby
to fill your heart with song.
This time last year we were in Kauai,
sipping Starbucks on our shaded lanai,
feeling the gentle ocean breeze,
sampling fresh coconut from tall palm trees.
The ocean is waiting for a tentative toe.
Hula dancers sway on the steps below.
Screeching birds swoop in flocks in the sky.
The ocean roar’s a steady lullaby.
