I need some Soul Rejuvenation.
I need a COVID charging station.
I need a place where the dreaded Virus
doesn’t totally consume and tire us.

(A Reprise “Thank you” to my Genealogy Book Club for the Giant US Puzzle after the completion of a sanctioned 10K walk in all 51 US Capital Cities).
It was a misty, moisty Monday.
I had nothing much to do.
I rummaged through my storage,
and suddenly thought of you.
Tucked away upon a shelf,
much to my surprise,
I came across your Puzzle Gift—
a delight to my very eyes!
I opened up the box again
(though I’ve worked the puzzle before).
I got the scattered pieces out
and crawled around the floor.
I put the States in order
and remembered every city.
I thought about the walks I’ve made…
some ugly, most quite pretty.
I want to thank you all again
for that special gift to me.
And thank you for the fun tonight
when you jogged my memory.
I need some retail therapy.
I need a change of scene.
I need to browse the shopping aisles.
I need to spend some green.
I need to get out of the house.
I’ll gladly wear a mask.
I need a change of scenery.
Is that too much to ask?
I send you joy and love each night
so you will know the world’s all right.
I send sweet dreams to hold you through
and peace and comfort come to you.
My friend, Rene, she doth persist
in off’ring to teach me Zoom.
And, I, forsooth, I do resist,
this stuff in my living room.
The world doth keep a frantic pace
with new technology.
But I keep quill and ink at hand
so I remain Zoom free.
My very fav’rite foods to eat
are cookies, cakes, and candy.
When my cupboard is amply stocked with these,
I feel just fine and dandy.
I pray you joy from day to night,
with dancing steps,
and a heart that’s light.
I pray you laughter on your lips
and success at the end
of your fingertips.
It’s just a bothersome, pesky chore–
to don a mask as I leave my door.
I’m an American! You can’t ask
ME to wear a stupid Virus mask!
Thus doth the Virus flourish and grow.
Selfish Americans make it so.
I pray today will bring you joy
with light steps along the way.
I pray for laughter in your life
and sunshine in your day.
I’m sorry to miss your party.
I’m just not up to Zoom.
I’ll think of you during the party –
safe—here in my living room.
I’m glad life planted our gardens
so we’re still not far apart.
You’re always part of my garden.
I hold you in my heart.
