High School Friends

My High School friends mean a lot to me.

Together we lived through a slice of history.

–Together viewed the world with all the same-age eyes.

–Together saw life’s changes with a shared surprise.

Together we matured from youth to ripe old age.

Together we are waiting now to turn the next page.

High School years are just a fading memory.

But, High School friends still mean a lot to me.

Olivia of Apple Support

Olivia has me on her list.

She’s like the Hounds of Hell.

Even though I do resist,

it isn’t working well.

The phone rings many times a day.

She calls from Apple Support.

And though I cut her off each time,

she Steadfastly Storms my Fort.

The phone rings and I run for it.

I scurry down the hall.

I leap up every time it rings.

I just don’t learn at all.

It could be something interesting—

like my Beloved Child.

Or maybe Publisher’s Clearing House!

 Wouldn’t that be Wild!

I ordered up “Call Blocking”

so I try to stop her ring.

She must have “Call Unlocking”

‘cause it doesn’t do a thing.

I lift the phone quite eagerly

But I begin to whine.

There she is again….

Olivia’s on the line.

Corona Virus Shuffle

It’s the Corona Virus Shuffle with

your grocery shopping cart.

Find stuff that’s cutely hidden

while you stay six feet apart.

Don’t forget to wear your

Covid Nineteen mask.

It’s easier if you write down

ev’ry single task.

Missed an item as you passed?

You must start back at Go.

Shopping aisles are now one way –

you can’t go to and fro.

Check out lines are dicey.

Diff’rent rules in every store.

Watch your list quite closely

since you can’t go back for more.

Sanitize your hands and cart.

Be careful how you cough.

Be sure you’re safely in your car

before your mask comes off.
