A holiday with lots of candy

It’s Halloween!
It’s Trick or Treat!
The ghosts and goblins prowl.
And over by the graveyard,
one lone wolf begins to howl!
It’s Halloween!
The kids are out!
They jump out with a Boo!
We give them sweets and candy.
Nothing else that we can do!
Today
May angels walk with you today
and take you by the hand,
and keep you safe in ev’rything
life may of you demand.

Tonight you sleep with angels
who surround you with their love.
They spread protective wings for you —
around, beneath, above.
They gift you with their comfort,
spread their arms to hold you fast,
and stay with you throughout the night
until the dark has passed.

The Neighbor’s Maple Tree
The maple leaves are changing…
burnished leaves of fire and gold.
If you think of it abstractly,
it’s a beauty to behold.
When I moved here, ‘twas a sapling,
neat and close near to the ground.
Then it grew into a giant
and I can’t see Puget Sound.
A Lullaby for Sleep

Civility and decency.
Wouldn’t those be nice?
We’ve lost them from our leadership.
And now, we pay the price.
A Miracle
I felt a need for miracles.
A rainbow split the sky.
It shimmered with bright color,
then it faded and slipped by.
It rose up from the harbor.
Pastel stripes stretched far and high.
Today I had a miracle…
a rainbow in the sky.
