Summer Solstice

Today’s the longest of the year.

The days grow shorter starting here.

The inter-planetary path

brings shorter days as aftermath.

I wish the bright days could be stronger.

Wish the sun could linger longer.

Wish the skies could shine and brighten.

Wish our hearts could lift and lighten.

All things have a time and season.

Guess the solstice has its reason.

Days do what they’re meant to do.

Their length’s not up to me or you.

Wishes

I want a magic carpet ride

to sail me through the skies.

I want to rub a genie lamp

to bring a big surprise.

I want to scatter pixie dust

to charm my path somewhere.

But, most of all, when I arrive,

I want to find you there.

Life

There’s lots of love in this big world.

There’s also room for hate.

And each of us must make our choice.

Love.

Retaliate.

We each one choose what we will do.

We choose who we will be.

And choice by choice we make our lives.

We etch our destiny.
