The columns of death are rising.
There’s a long, dark road ahead.
The numbers shake the heart and soul:
a quarter million dead.

We’ve had a lot of dogs
through the course of the years.
They’ve mainly brought friendship.
They’ve brought a few tears.
They’ve all been different –
as we knew they would.
But, they all have loved, and,
they’ve tried to be good.
I’m thinking today
of Cheryl’s dog, Spot.
Small in size. Big in heart.
A quivering bundle of energy.
Loyal and true as she could be.
Two black bunnies sit in the rain
and nibble at my grass.
Stone still. Ears stiff. A little twitch…
eyes watch me as I pass.
Our Book says I’m the hostess
for our next upcoming meeting.
So, I thought I’d plan to clean a bit,
and think on what we’re Eating.
But, Our Guv just put the Kibosh on
our luncheon in December.
This year of 2020
is a time we’ll all remember!
I send my love to each of you,
with wishes for Health and Fun.
I know we’ll get together again
in Twenty-Twenty-One.
She was a good woman.
She was a good wife.
She raised good children.
She led a good life.
The Election stopped me dead in my track.
I can’t go forward. I can’t go back.
I watch the news like a person transfixed,
waiting to see who the nation’s picked.
Email from my daughter: About Last Night
Did you see the moon and Mars?
They were hanging out among the stars.
Email reply:
I saw the moon.
I didn’t see Mars.
I didn’t see any glittering stars.
I saw bright rays of shimmering light.
I saw the beautiful, moon lit night.
