Living the Aging Life

My daughter found a white hair.

I’m more shocked than I can say.

You know you’re growing older

when your kid starts turning gray.

This world is in a Great Big Mess.

We’ve gotten in a fix.

Let’s make ourselves a miracle.

Let’s add love to the mix.

A brand new day

is here to welcome you.

It offers up its light with Joy,

extending Hope to you.

We’re choosing our next President.

It is a Very Big Event!

I’m voting now with firm intent

to bolster what our country’s meant.

Popeye ate his spinach

to draw strength and energy.

When I sip my spinach soup,

it does the same for me!

Sometimes joy seems a fragile thing.

It flckers,  then it’s gone.

It brushes you a moment…

and then it flitters on.

But joy’s a steadfast, sturdy thing.

Your joy does not depart.

Your joy is always there with you.

Embedded in your heart.

Zucchini bread for breakfast.

What a golden summer treat.

Fresh and warm, right from the oven –

 it’s a taste that’s hard to beat!

The recipe’s an old one,

 filled with school year memory….

bringing back another lifetime…

My candle burns.

It won’t forget.

It still has work to do.

It lifts its head

in steady flame

to light a path for you.

Samantha’s got way too much hair.

Her shedding causes me despair.

There’s no way one can quite prepare

to live a life with loose cat hair.
