Living the Aging Life

I wish I had a fairy

who would help with what I need.

What I need a fairy for is:

Work outside and weed.

I need a Happy Fairy to

support me in my yard.

‘Cuz with a Happy Fairy

gardening would be less hard.

My garden gate is open…

and perhaps it is the wind….

but I think it is the fairies

who decided to come in.

May this day bring joy to you –

your steps be sure and strong.

May the path stretch broad and clear –

and, in your heart:  a song.

There’s lots of love for all the world.

There’s love enough to share.

And when we’ve loved ‘bout all we can…

there still is love to spare.

Rest and be thankful.

Sleep through the night.

Waken tomorrow to

dawn’s gentle light.

I wake up in the morning….

…find that Daphne’s feet are still…

…and I miss my Dancing Daphne…

…and I ‘spose I always will.

There are folks who claim that choc’late

is the Dish For Which to Die.

But I think there must be a place

for Home-made Lemon Pie.

May your day be bright with sunshine.

May your path stretch wide and clear.

May your eyes light up with laughter.

May your heart be filled with cheer.

The Uvalde children haunt me.

Mostly gone now from our mind.

Leaving still their silent message:

for our children, please be kind.

Rest and be thankful.

 A listening heart.

A night’s gentle slumber.

And, then, a new start.
