No one knows what the future holds,
or what’s around the bend.
No one sees what the path will be
or how one’s life will end.

The groundhog skipped his shadow
so we know spring’s on the way.
I’m ready for some signs of spring….
Hooray for Groundhog’s Day!
Each weekday morn
the buses come and
load the kids for school.
They study on their ABC’s.
They learn the Golden Rule.
Each afternoon
the buses come and
drive them home, and then.
next morning all the buses come
and do it all again.
The children head out in the dark
and climb up into the bus.
On yellow buses ‘cross the land…
the future of all of us.
My Candle burns for those in school —
who study, learn, and grow –-
My candle burns for those who teach —
and those who strive to know.
There’s a little helicopter up on Mars.
It flies around alone.
But sometimes, when ev’rything’s just right,
it calls home on its phone.
Here’s a tip for dismal days
when you can’t get ahead:
Put down your pencil.
Lock the doors.
Then climb back into bed.
“Good morning, Ma’am.
My name is John.
Today I’ll be your waiter.
Do you prefer to order now?
Or shall I come back later?
There’s nothing I can recommend.
On that, you’re on your own.
(I have a lot of allergies.
I bring my lunch from home).
That couple sitting over there?
Oh, they’re just hard to please.
They said they found some moldy bits
right there amongst the cheese.
They didn’t like their omelet.
They said the eggs were runny.
Their fried potatoes weren’t done.
Their bacon tasted funny.
I’m sorry that you’ve changed your mind…
It would have been my pleasure
to serve you all your choices
while you breakfasted at leisure.”

Here’s a gift that’s just for you
as you go through your day:
Tuck this smile into your heart
to brighten up your way.
Good morning to you, One and All!
I hope your day is blessed
with fam’ly, food, and football games,
and friends, and fun, and rest!
