Look back upon this day in peace
and let it slip away.
Look forward to tomorrow ‘cause
‘twill be a brand new day.
Look forward to the things you’ll do
to reach your heart’s desire.
Tomorrow, too, will do its best
to challenge and inspire.

Climb up here upon my lap.
I’ll sing to you a song.
Lay your body on my chest
so you can hum along.
Pull your blanket round your ears
and cover up your head.
And when you close your sleepy eyes,
I’ll tuck you in your bed.
Temps Plunge!
Border Crisis!
The world’s uncertain.
I can see that it’s
a risky time for me.
I’ll stay inside.
Shut all my doors.
I’ll hustle through my
household chores.
I’ll get some coffee,
then I’ll see
a funny rerun on TV.
Ev’ry morn when I arise
I get another chance
to be the best that I can be.
What a fortunate circumstance!!!
My winter garden’s droopy,
limpy, squishy, cold and wet.
But down beneath it’s shaping up
to make the best Spring yet!
They say a blizzard’s coming in.
‘Twill hit most ev’ry state.
For some: an inconvenience.
For some: ‘twill devastate.
They say we all should Quick! Get ready!
I’ve done my part!
I’m holding steady!
I’ve got an ice axe standing by with
bottled Starbucks in good supply.
The Uvalde children haunt me.
Their young deaths: now, Yesterday.
Other killings take the forefront.
Other fam’lies mourn and pray.
Here’s a thought to help you out
If you get bored today.
Prop your feet up.
Close your eyes.
And sleep it all away.
They say we could have heavy snow
to block the mountain passes,
to whiten up the treetops and
to fill the deep crevasses.
They say it could raise levels of
our vital reservoirs,
but add to rushing waters that
erode the rivers’ shores.
They say we should be glad
because it’s winter, and it oughter
bring snow to make a snowpack
that will melt for summer water.
The yellow buses stop and go.
The waiting kids climb in.
The buses take them off to school
and bring them home again.
