(A Reprise “Thank you” to my Genealogy Book Club for the Giant US Puzzle after the completion of a sanctioned 10K walk in all 51 US Capital Cities).
It was a misty, moisty Monday.
I had nothing much to do.
I rummaged through my storage,
and suddenly thought of you.
Tucked away upon a shelf,
much to my surprise,
I came across your Puzzle Gift—
a delight to my very eyes!
I opened up the box again
(though I’ve worked the puzzle before).
I got the scattered pieces out
and crawled around the floor.
I put the States in order
and remembered every city.
I thought about the walks I’ve made…
some ugly, most quite pretty.
I want to thank you all again
for that special gift to me.
And thank you for the fun tonight
when you jogged my memory.
A very sweet ode for a very sweet gift.

I reread this and it still fills me with happiness. Cleverly done.

My friends in the Genealogy group of Woman’s Book Club in Everett are special. And, completing a sanctioned 10K walk in all 51 US Capital cities was also special.
