To My Friends in Genealogy Book Club:  October Meeting

We met again at Kati’s on a gray October day,

trusting that the new vaccines keep COVID at the bay.

We’d read a book, so shared a bit

‘bout what we thought about it.

Enjoyed the conversation.

There’s just no doubt about it.

Goblins, ghouls and spooky ghosts

surrounded as we ate,

and friendly pumpkin faces

watched us clean each pretty plate.

Our Carol wasn’t with us.

By a pre-planned circumstance,

she and husband, Jon, were both off

traveling in France.

We had a moment’s quiet thought

for those whom we remember,

and took assignments cheerfully

to read before December.
