My telephone’s not mine alone.
My phone’s self-activated.
It does just what it wants to do.
My input’s not awaited.
It calls at random through the night.
It rings and buzzes left and right.
But when I tell it what to do,
it puckers up and sulks a few.
It burps and stalls and wants a PIN
and then it hunkers down again.
The phone does what it wants to do
which might not match with me and you.
Some toddlers learn the phoning skill…
but my phone does its thing at will.
For me, it is the car’s electronics that seem determined to outwit me. The side view mirrors want to look into the car, not out to the road. The heads up display isn’t displaying. And today, the check engine light came on just once and then went out. Should I be concerned or is it just wanting attention?

in my opinion, these devices do not have enough to do to keep themselves occupied. They want to play. They want attention. So, what would any toddler do? Take independent action. And there you are. Helpless.
