Daffodils

Four daffodils thrust up their heads

and burst into full bloom!

It spreads a glow of golden light

through gray mid-winter’s gloom.

Those daffodils had best be wary.

This is all a little scary.

Don’t those blooming beauties know

it’s just the end of January?
