Poor John

I rose up feeling happy,

with a smile upon my face —

stepped outside my bedroom–

smile was gone, without a trace.

Poor John.

The dog had an unhappy night,

for there, outside my door,

I saw  my friendly buddy

had to poop upon the floor.

Poor John.

I went to my computer,

ordered up a new device.

It would clean the dirty carpet

and would leave things looking nice!

Smart John.

But then I got a message

that gave me a second shock:

They’d like to fill my order,

but the cleaner’s Not in Stock.

Poor John.

So I petted friendly buddy,

with her big head on my lap,

and went back to my bedroom.

Guess it’s time to take a nap.

Poor John.

But I rose to face the music.

Faced the challenge with a shrug.

And got down on my hands and knees

and cleaned the dirty rug.
