Extreme old age is a fragile place.
You don’t expect to get there.
But, when you do, you look around, and,
you don’t know what to do there.
Extreme old age is a fragile place.
You don’t expect to get there.
But, when you do, you look around, and,
you don’t know what to do there.
There are some who do….
and, some who don’t.
There are some who will…
and, some who won’t.
There are some who help…
and, some who watch.
And, a few push trouble
up a notch.
I’m all at sea.
I cannot tell
if the future’s bright…
or we’re going to Hell.
It’s been twenty one years since the towers went down.
It’s been twenty one years of regret.
It’s been twenty one years. We stayed glued to TV….
and we’re really not over it yet.
Duty and service.
Civility. Grace.
And, for the public,
there’s a smiling face.
The Uvalde children haunt me.
Their claim can’t be repaid.
Their voices fade to silence.
“Mama, I’m afraid.”
Did you see the moon last night?
a shimm’ring ball of golden light,
drawing eyes as it rose so high…
a glist’ning orb in the dark night sky.
The Emergency’s over
in Washington State.
Who’d a thunk at the start
we’d have such a long wait.
Who’d a thunk how our lives
would be altered and changed.
Who’d a thunk how our habits
would be re-arranged.
Who’d a thunk that a blessing
like safe vaccination
would tear us apart and
disrupt our great nation.
Who’d a thunk we’d be lonely…
missing family or friend.
Who’d a thunk of the sickness—
the lives at an end.
Who’d a thunk?
England’s longest reigning queen
has fin’ly taken rest.
And, to our friends across the sea:
We wish them all the best.
Shining faces. Back to school.
Recess and the Golden Rule.
Laughing voices. Eager eyes.
Dreams that reach the highest skies.
Suddenly, the weather’s changed.
Growth begins to stall.
Flowers wilt and droop their heads.
Suddenly, it’s Fall.
