Life’s back to normal.
The “heat dome’s” gone.
The morning is chilly.
My furnace kicked on.
Life’s back to normal.
The “heat dome’s” gone.
The morning is chilly.
My furnace kicked on.
The bunnies are growing bigger and bigger.
They’ve lost their trim baby-bunny fig’re.
They get enough food ‘cause they’re eating my plants
(a most unfortunate circumstance).
But the streams are drying as the weather is hotter.
So, where are the bunnies getting their water?
Butterflies. Rainbows.
Fairies in a ring.
Dancing elves. Unicorns.
Things to make you sing.
The fog made it cool
for my daily mile.
My pace is slowing.
It takes awhile.
It’s been three weeks since we had rain.
The weather is hotter and hotter.
The bunnies still play out in my yard.
Where are they finding their water?
I read the news
and it wasn’t good.
Folks aren’t behaving the
way they should.
They’re killing each other
left and right.
Shooting’s a sport on
Saturday night.
Ho Hum.
There’s a blanket of fog—
moved in overnight.
The world’s a white blankness—
nothng in sight.

Washington State Re-Opens
They say this Celebration
marks the End of the COVID Fear.
They say if you get the new Vaccine,
you face a Bright New Year.
They say for some,
it’s getting worse.
For most of us,
we’ve passed the Curse.
They say our lives
will all be changed…
our “normal” patterns
re-arranged…
We mourn: Six hundred thousand dead.
But, now we see there’s life ahead.
We had a look at the face of death.
Now we’re grateful for our life and breath.
It’s hard to say Goodbye to a friend….
…to be there with him at life’s end…
…to give a final, loving pet…
…the slow and tear-stained trip to the Vet.
Before the Pandemic,
there were drivers and clerks.
There seemed to be people
to show up for work.
But now it’s all diff’rent.
No one can be found
to fill all the jobs
that are dangling around.
There aren’t enough nurses
or drivers of trucks.
There aren’t enough tellers
to pass out the bucks.
There aren’t enough firemen
to put out the fire.
There aren’t policemen
for something that’s dire.
There aren’t enough teachers
to meet with the class.
There aren’t enough waiters
to fill up your glass.
There aren’t enough pilots to
fly the airplanes.
There aren’t enough washers
to clean window panes.
There used to be people
so where did they go?
A Pandemic myst’ry.
No one seems to know.
