Ordinary people doing
ordinary things….
ordinary busy-ness
is mostly what life brings.

Every morning when I get up,
I have a thankful heart.
Yesterday has passed away.
I can make a fresh new start.
Girl Scout cookies just aren’t the same
when you pick them up out of a bin.
I like to see the bundled up kid with a box
and a friendly grin.
I hope this doesn’t signal the end
of another long tradition.
But I fear that lots of Girl Scout moms
are a-hopin’ and a-wishin’.
In Myanmar they shot a child who
fled toward her father’s arm.
There’ s something sad about a world
that wants to bring children harm.
Your candle’s burning brightly,
sending out its steady light–
sending out its steady message —
so you know the world’s all right.
Millions of Americans
have the vaccine.
Increasingly, we’re protected.
But the variant rages
at a pace that’s obscene.
Thousands are getting infected.
Ev’ry day I Think about Things,
but, I don’t reach a Firm Conclusion.
I think, and I ponder, and I scratch my head,
but it ends in Mixed Confusion.
The candle is burning,
clear, and true.
It’s shining its golden
light for you.
(In Memory of Oliver)
A cat confines her int’rest
to the things she wants to do.
And the cat has not much int’rest
in the task of pleasing you.
A dog will show affection
quick as falling off a log.
To a cat you’re just the furniture.
A cat is not a dog.
Something’s eating my tulip leaves.
I DO NOT THINK IT’S FUNNY.
The damage is extensive and
I’m afraid it’s the Big Black Bunny.
He’s welcome to scamper thru my yard
and hop up the neighbor’s stair.
But if he eats my tulips that
Black Bunny had Best Beware!
