Sometimes I think the whole wide world
is utterly insane.
Sometimes I think we’ve all contracted
Virus of the Brain.
Sometimes I think our world will shatter
like sharp breaking glass.
Sometimes, I stop and realize:
this, too, will pass.
Sometimes I think the whole wide world
is utterly insane.
Sometimes I think we’ve all contracted
Virus of the Brain.
Sometimes I think our world will shatter
like sharp breaking glass.
Sometimes, I stop and realize:
this, too, will pass.
I live in a house with three old cats.
These cats shed a LOT of hair.
Wherever you go. throughout the house,
there’s cat hair everywhere.
Throughout my house there’s no sign of a mouse
and there are no cat fleas.
But there is cat hair everywhere.
It’s enough to make one sneeze.
The fog is dense ‘gainst the window pane.
I think I’ll go back to bed.
I planned on making an early start.
I’ll just sleep in instead.
Today I crossed the Boulevard.
(Crossing the Boulevard is hard).
Each time I make it back alive
I give myself a mental high five.
A thick marine layer just moved in
to block out the earlier sun.
I try to hold on to Summer, but
Autumn has surely begun.
Life offers us a promise in
the day that hasn’t yet been.
Tomorrow is another day.
….We get to try again.
Now the night has fallen round us.
Angels come to guard our sleep.
Now sweet slumber overtakes us.
May our rest be soft and deep.
There’s always plenty of work to do
even in a City Garden.
I need to get outside before
the first frost starts to harden.
The compost pile is growing.
The potato vine is dumped.
The zucchini’s falling over.
The tomato vines have slumped.
The roses need their pruning
‘fore Old Winter hits too hard.
Flower beds need attention.
There’s work out in that yard!
There’s a malady among us and
I do maintain
that some of us are getting
COVID Virus of the Brain.
It’s continued isolation and
the wearing of the masks.
It’s the constant sanitizing and
the COVID Virus tasks.
I know my mind is getting blurred.
I really do not see
what the long term end of this
can possibly be.
Everyone needs a lullaby.
Here is one for you…
a simple, quiet melody
to bring sweet dreams to you.
