It’s a moisty day in Ev’rett.
Heavy clouds are laying low.
Raindrops drizzle on the window.
Wind chill feels like it could snow.
It’s a moisty day in Ev’rett.
Heavy clouds are laying low.
Raindrops drizzle on the window.
Wind chill feels like it could snow.
My yard is spiked with color.
It’s pretty as it can be.
The rabbits missed some tulips.
They left some here for me!
I’m sending you a rainbow day.
I’m sending sun-lit skies.
I’m sending joy and happiness.
You’ll feel in Paradise!
I was standing in the Wal Mart self-check line.
Minding my business. Feeling fine.
When a check-out clerk accosted me.
She wanted to see some State ID.
I just looked blank. And I asked her why?
And didn’t pull my wallet out to comply.
She pointed. “Right there, by your hand.
You’ve picked up items that are contraband.
In your shopping, you’ve chosen stuff
that you just can’t buy till you’re old enough.”
“What use is Rain-X ‘cept cleaning glass?
Do kids get high on Sharpies in class?”
She shrugged, but didn’t explain to me.
She said: “It’s Wal Mart’s policy.”
She looked at my hair, all snowy white, and said,
I guess it will be all right.”
So I took my stuff, went through the door,
and scratched my head as I left the store.
There’s a moral here that I don’t see.
The world is plain confusing to me.
I’m sending blessings to the world.
I’m sending them to you.
I pray today that you’ll be blessed
in all you say and do.
I pray today kind, gentle words
will pass your loving lips
and ev’ry thing your hands do touch
will bless your fingertips.
Sun beats on the graveyard.
Gentle breezes blow.
We pass by aging grave stones
as we look for ones we know.
Bird calls twitter through the air
to bright the soft spring day.
These people came before us.
Long ago and far away.
Bluebonnets spread across the fields…
far as the eye can see.
The paint brush flecks its orange specks
to add its company.
In Texas, ev’rything is BIG.
In Texas, BIG is BETTER.
In Texas, all is CAPITALS.
They have no lower-case letter.
Today I send forget-me-nots
and flitting butterflies.
I send you bright hued rainbows
and gentle sun-lit skies.

“I’ve flown ‘bout forty million miles.
No, Sir, The records higher.
Yes, the flights stay mostly calm,
But, sure….things can turn dire.
We’re trained in safety.
Don’t you worry.
You’ll be fine.
No fret. No flurry.
I push carts up and down the aisle.
I’m always friendly. Show a smile.
I’ll pass you food and drink and then
I’ll pick your garbage up again.
I’ve served to folks both kind and testy.
Served to folks both nice and pesky.
I always offer folks a smile
and keep things friendly down the aisle.
I can’t remember where I’ve been
But, yes, I’d do it all again
Ev’ry job has little quirks,
but this one has some awesome perks.
When you get off the plane today
you’ll hear the words I always say.
No matter what you say or do
‘It’s been a pleasure serving you.’ ”
