My little Mother taught me a lot

about Grace in growing old.

And her life lessons are

a help to me

in these days of Winter Cold.

Today I’m snowbound.

I just can’t go.

My world hit “pause”

with the winter snow.

I caught a Rainbow in my hand.

It didn’t want to stay.

It flashed its colors, fresh and bright,

and then it slipped away.

The quiet snow fell through the night.

I woke up to a world that’s white.

The snow keeps sifting, falling down….

…still and quiet….all around.

My middle name is “Sidetrack”

and I just can’t understand

why I cannot keep my focus

on the task that lies at hand.

I cannot stay attentive

to a single task I do.

I guess I’ve fallen victim

to the COVID Mental Flu.

Ed Rubatino’s trucks are out…

flexing mechanical muscle.

I won’t go for my walk today.

I’ve given up the tussle.

A lullaby is in the air.

It’s gentle notes surround me.

The lilt of a quiet lullaby

brings happiness around me.

…don’t have to fly away to foreign lands

or seek for Lands Enchanted….

I can flourish in my home and yard

and bloom where I am planted….

I’m starting to dream

of my second vaccine

and a possible end to despair.

The first thing I”ll do

I can sure promise you

is take care of my Pirate-y Hair!
