Voices

Some voices sparkle and inspire.

Some set passionate hearts on fire.

Some give comfort and some console.

Some bring solace to the soul.

Each one speaks with their own voice.

Each one’s words are their own choice.

I’ve searched around and I’d like to find

a way to speak with a voice that’s kind.

Post-COVID People Shortage

There aren’t enough firemen.

There aren’t enough cops.

There aren’t enough field hands

to harvest the crops.

There aren’t enough teachers

for classrooms in schools.

There aren’t civil servants

to draft up new rules.

There are plenty of Robos –

(They never take rest) – and

enough politicians to feather their nest.

So:  Whatever Happened?

I’m Darned if I know.

There aren’t enough people.

Where did they go?

To My Friends in Genealogy Book Club: August Meeting Post-COVID

We gathered up on Kati’s deck on a sunny August day

with the view spread out in crystal light sprawling all across the Bay.

We talked again ‘bout books and friends, exclaimed about the weather,

caught up on one another’s news, just glad to be together.

We paused to mourn our friends who’ve passed,

rejoiced that we can meet at last,

talked about the books we’ve read,

and made our plans for the months ahead.
