Ballad of the Suez Canal: Verse Two

A ship is still stuck

in the Suez Canal.

It’s blocking all traffic.

I’m telling you, Pal,

that finding an answer’s

not easy or quick, and

getting the ship loose will

be quite a trick.

The thinkers are thinking.

The dredgers are dredging.

The ship is still stuck.

It took quite a wedging.

It’s a tale for the Ages.

I’m telling you, Pal,

‘bout the ship that got stuck

in the Suez Canal.

Ballad of the Suez Canal

There’s a Big Mess in shipping.

I’m telling you, Pal…

no traffic can make it

through the Suez Canal!

A big ship’s gone sidewise.

Nothing can pass.

Nothing can move it.

They’re at an impasse.

The big ship is longer

than the water is wide.

It can’t be maneuvered

by man or by tide.

They need some ideas…

both quick and inspired.

I think that the Captain

expects to be fired.
