Bleak December

This December day is

bleak and drear.

We grind our way

through an Awful Year.

The darkest days

still lie ahead.

The future’s stark:

a year of dread.

Daily Walk

When I go out for my walk today,

I’ll lift my face to the sky.

I’ll watch the white clouds overhead

as they silently drift by.

Vaccination Progress

The vaccines are spreading across the land.

The pace of progress is slow.

A million have received a dose:

three hundred million to go.

Rainbow’s Promise

I’m sending you a Rainbow

Pretend

I think that I’ll push back the clouds.

I’ll harness the rain and wind.

I’ll splatter the sky with rainbows.–

or, at least, I will pretend.

Rubatino’s Truck

I never want to push my luck

when I pass by Rubatino’s truck.

The drivers like to liven their day

by fright’ning white-haired ladies away.

The COVID death rate’s rising.
