I hope these rabbits pack and go
to winter down in Mexico.
I hope they hop off, hand in hand,
to swim across the Rio Grande.
I hope they’ll soak up Southern sun
and savor life and have some fun.
I hope they’ll frolic, eat, and play
and never, ever come this way.

I didn’t know my fam’ly tree stretched back that far!
I was checking my ancest’ry
and I shook the fam’ly tree.
And what should tumble out of it
but little old ME!

It’s Labor Day.
Bright summer’s gone.
The year is marching steady on.
The days grow short.
The nights grow long.
Dark winter’s coming right along!
