A niece just got COVID.

She’s had all her shots.

She follows the guide-lines

for Dos and Do-Nots.

It carries a warning

for both Bold and Wary.

The Virus is with us.

The Virus is scary.

The COVID threat’s abating.

It won’t ever go away.

Nine hundred sixty thousand dead –

the count of yesterday.

Our world has been forever changed.

Lives disrupted.  Re-arranged.

We’ll go about our daily task….

and, we’ll no longer wear a mask.

The Unvaccinated play COVID roulette,

proclaiming their freedom to die.

It’s OK with me

if they don’t want to be…

but, I really don’t understand why.
