The state is fully open…
but, somehow, we’ve all changed.
The Virus may be fading,
but our lives are re-arranged.
The state is fully open…
but, somehow, we’ve all changed.
The Virus may be fading,
but our lives are re-arranged.
Our Guv says we’ll re-open.
Says Old COVID’s on the run.
Says the Bad Old Days are over.
Says the New Day has begun.
Our Guv says all the businesses
can do what they gotta do
to try to turn a profit
now that we’ve all muddled through.
Our Guv says he will monitor
to keep us in the clear, and
if we misbehave enough,
new sanctions will appear.
So, say Goodbye! to COVID…
Give a pause for those who died….
If you’ve been vaccinated,
you can safely Go Outside.
The Guv says he’ll reopen.
Says the worst of it is passed.
Says we all can go in public.
Says we don’t all need to mask.
Says the kids can all go back to school.
Says folks can drink in bars.
Says the vaccine was successful.
We can thank our Lucky Stars.
But, I don’t want to leave my house.
I’ve learned to be alone.
I’m not ready for Post-COVID world.
It’s safer here at home.
Today is bright and beautiful…
the longest of the year.
The brilliant start of summer
marks a lull in our COVID fear.
Too many friends have passed away.
Too many minds are lost.
There’ve been too many fractures.
There’s been too high a cost.
600,000 Americans dead.
The death rate’s fin’ly slowing.
What COVID future lies ahead?
We have no way of knowing…..
Seattle’s been a shambles.
but they’ve just done something right.
Their vaccine rate’s impressive –
they might win their COVID fight.
The COVID rates are falling.
We’re seeing signs of hope.
The vaccine’s fighting COVID –
‘gainst its range…against its scope.
COVID Numbers: Going Down.
Economy: Improving.
Life is picking up again.
Things have started moving.
Whoever would think so many would die…
lives cut short….families cry…
Whoever would think the hand of death
would just reach down and take our breath…
Whoever would think our lives would
become a year of isolation…
Whoever would think a pandemic would bring
the world to such cold desolation….
