My COVID brain is damaged.

I have lost my epicenter.

Tho they’re taking off the sanctions,

I’m not ready to re-enter.

My friends have gotten older

and a few did not survive.

The world is more confusing.

I’ve forgotten how to drive!

COVID still is killing

but the deaths seem far away.

Vaccine pushed away the fear

that used to haunt our day.

We’re growing numb to COVID.

It’s just a background chatter.

We barely notice all the deaths.

They just no longer matter.

I’m a Fully Vaccinated Person….

the nation’s New Elite!

You can tell us very readily.

We’re Mask-less in the Street!

We needn’t shuffle sheepishly

with masks across our face,

so all the word can quickly

see our “No Vaccine” disgrace.

No, we can boldly go outdoors..

or even stay inside!..

and show our face to strangers

in our Vaccinated Pride.

When more Americans

achieve immunity

we can live our lives with

greater impunity.

We’re Sick and Tired of COVID!

We’re Bored with COVID fuss!

We’re through with Masks and Closures!

But….. COVID’s not done with us.

It’s been a year of loneliness.

It’s stressful and I do confess

this year of COVID’s been quite hard.

It helps to have a needful yard!

Eight hundred people died last night

here in the USA.

It didn’t make the headlines.

It’s all So Yesterday.

Every day the COVID numbers

show a roller coaster ride.

One day we’re going forward,

but the next we seem to slide.

The death toll keeps on mounting

as the sicknesses increase.

The only thing that seems quite clear: 

COVID doesn’t cease.

Are we surging forward

or plummeting back?

I’m having a COVID

Data Attack!

Vaccinations are on the rise!

Light is shining through!

But now the frowners warn us:

We’re slipping back to Phase Two!

We’ve all got COVID of the Brain.

It’s a malady we can’t sustain.

We need relief, but I do maintain

we’ll never see “normal” life again!
