Pesky Rabbits
I guess those pesky rabbits
didn’t make it through the drought.
Without a source of water….
they must just have petered out.
The rabbits ate my budding plants.
It sort of made me mad.
But, now that they don’t come around
….it leaves me feeling sad.
Crocus
Oh, My Gosh! The crocus bloomed.
They pushed up through the snow.
A purple patch of prettiness…
a luminescent glow!

This is the time for wisdom.
This is the time to be strong.

There’s a lullaby inside my head.
Its notes lilt soft and true.
The lullaby’s a song of love
and it sings for me and you.

The candle’s light is burning.
Its light is clear and true.
The candle shines for all the world.

The Russian tanks roll ‘cross Ukraine.
Putin claims it as his own.
He sips his Russian vodka on
his self-appointed throne.
Trump calls him a “genius”.
Pompeo likes his style.
Ukrainians keep on fighting.
But they’re losing – mile by mile.
Masks: a thing of the past?
The CDC is saying that
we don’t need to be masked.
They thank all those who’ve covered
and have done as they have asked.
But now, they say, that things have changed–
and we can show our faces.
And pesky masks can disappear–
not leaving signs or traces.

The Russian troops roll through Ukraine.
Putin’s goal seems clear.
He sees. He wants. He acts. He takes.
The world won’t interfere.

Outside, my yard grows daffodils.
They push up through the snow.
New life stirs up beneath the soil
