I hear a morning lullaby
skipping brightly through my head….
a lilting note of sunshine
as I leave my comfy bed.
I hear a morning lullaby
skipping brightly through my head….
a lilting note of sunshine
as I leave my comfy bed.
Ev’ry morning ’bout
half past six,
my cats start mewing
for their Breakfast Fix.
Although it’s early,
their plaintive “Meow!”
lets me know they’re ready
for their breakfast NOW.
The day is waking from the night.
The world’s transformed by dawning light.
I’ve Corona Virus of the Brain.
It’s a Terrible Malady.
I hope when this pandemic ends,
my brain’ll come back to me.
‘Cause, if it’s not reversible–
What a Terrible, Terrible Thought!—
I don’t know how I’ll manage.
It’s the Only Brain I’ve Got.
A big black bunny hopped through my yard
and up my neighbor’s stair.
‘Bout half way up, he stopped to check
and sniffed the morning air.
I checked the daily forecast
and it said there will be rain.
This morning there’ll be showers,
and, then later, rain again.
I love my comfy COVID cap.
My hair’s tucked out of sight.
It keeps my head quite toasty warm
and it hides my Hairy Plight.
The Virus is a deadly scourge.
It infects and then it kills.
It then moves on relentlessly
to kill wherever it wills.
The cul de sac is quiet.
Tim’s gone to his Boeing shift.
The rest of us are still abed…
in peaceful dreams adrift.
The boardwalk stretches across the marsh,
floating above the ground.
It’s hard to believe this desolate tract
is so close to a bustling town.
