I baked an egg in the microwave.
It’s the easiest thing to do.
Splash, crack, zap in the microwave,
and your breakfast prep is through.

“Only” 1500 died last night…
…all these lives were lost.
The death toll may be inching down –
it’s still at a terrible cost.
Some people’s cats need therapists
to help them Be Their Best.
But my cats reach their zenith when
they get to Eat and Rest.
It’s a dark day over the Puget Sound.
The clouds hang heavy and low.
The air is thick with mist, and chill.
The earth is soaked below.
Every day I look to see
what that day’s promise
will bring for me.
Every day is a bright surprise
and every day’s promise
delights my eyes.
I hope tomorrow morning
I will get my second shot.
I hope I can pick up again
the life I’ve near forgot.
I hope I’ll see a friend again.
I hope I’ll cut my hair.
I hope I’ll have some company.
I hope I’ll go some where.
2,000 people died last night.
Still, the numbers are sliding lower.
There seems to be some hope in sight
as the death rate’s slightly slower.
The daffodils are pushing up,
insisting that it’s Spring.
They’re lifting up bright yellow heads
toward early opening.
There hasn’t been much flu this year –
far less than was projected.
It’s a welcome Virus side effect,
and one quite unexpected.
The Virus always lurks there…
a dark shadow on my mind…
its deadly presence waiting
with its threat to humankind.
