Aging in the Time of COVID

We wash our hands and we wear a mask.

We keep our Social Distance.

We do all the things

we know we should

at the CDC’s insistence.

We stay alive.  We try to survive.

We keep our COVID bubble.

We live a simple lifestyle as

we stay out of COVID trouble.

The days turned in to weeks and months.

The months became a year.

The vaccines bring a ray of hope.

Still we live in COVID fear.

Captive of the Virus

I’m a captive of the Virus.

I’m confined to house and home.

I stay close to my front doorstep

and my feet no longer roam.

Lunch and coffee with my friends

are just a distant memory.

And there is no change a’ coming

for as far as I can see.

But I’m busy every minute.

I am always working hard.

There’s no end to boring housework.

There’s always work out in the yard.
