In India, the bodies burn
in flashing flames of fire.
The country staggers with the deaths
as the COVID pace grows higher.
In India, the bodies burn
in flashing flames of fire.
The country staggers with the deaths
as the COVID pace grows higher.
Yesterday: 13,120 deaths counted
Now the virus spreads and grows–
–sends out its touch of death.
In all the reaches of the earth,
folks draw a final breath.
There won’t be a “life after COVID”.
COVID’s not going away.
COVID’s our new reality.
COVID has moved in to stay.
Three million have died around the world –
its scope and reach surprising.
The vaccines scarcely check the spread –
the death rate’s high and rising.
Its progression is relentless
though the numbers rise and fall.
The Virus goal is certain:
it wants to kill us all.
I’m wallowing in a Sea of Confusion.
I don’t know what to think.
I don’t know whether to wring my hands
or to feel plain Tickled Pink.
I don’t know whether the Virus Curse
is going from Bad to Even Worse
or if it’s doing as vaccines should
and changing its course from Bad to Good.
No matter what graphs or charts I see
some expert’s been ahead of me.
And the only constant that I see
is that the experts don’t agree.
You can hug your kids.
You can leave the house.
You can pet the cat.
You can kiss your spouse.
But Don’t Do This and Don’t Do That
And Never Let Down your Guard.
Who knew that living with COVID
would turn out to be so hard.
The COVID death rate’s slipping down.
It’s a trend in the right direction.
A third of the nation has one vaccine….
It’s slowing the rate of infection.
Girl Scout cookies just aren’t the same
when you pick them up out of a bin.
I like to see the bundled up kid with a box
and a friendly grin.
I hope this doesn’t signal the end
of another long tradition.
But I fear that lots of Girl Scout moms
are a-hopin’ and a-wishin’.
Millions of Americans
have the vaccine.
Increasingly, we’re protected.
But the variant rages
at a pace that’s obscene.
Thousands are getting infected.
I saw the school bus stopping
and I couldn’t believe my eyes!
It’s picking up kids for school again –
what a Joyous, Glad Surprise!
