The temperature is rising!
Today I might get Out!
I’m dancing down my hallway
with a Celebratory Shout!
The temperature is rising!
Today I might get Out!
I’m dancing down my hallway
with a Celebratory Shout!
I’m burning a candle for Jeff today,
for successful surgery.
I’m burning a candle for Jeff today,
with a prayer that he can see.
Half a million people have died.
The death toll makes us numb.
The Virus clock keeps ticking
with more Death still to come.
A ship’s in the harbor
swinging round with the tide–
three football fields long,
but not very wide.
It’s bringing in cargo
from a far away port.
It can’t off load here.
Our piers are too short.
So it drifts in our harbor,
passing the day.
And then it will leave us,
just sailing away.
I’d like to plant my Sweet Peas.
Seeds go in by President’s Day.
But, the flower bed is under the snow.
It’s not going to happen that way!
I got up rather early
to check out the cold and snow.
My drive is still a sheet of ice
so there’s no way I can go.
I pulled up a cozy snuggley
and settled in an easy chair.
I’ll spend my day in comfort
since I can’t go anywhere.
They said it would get warmer—
that the temperature would rise.
I just looked out the window,
and I couldn’t believe my eyes!
The snow is falling harder
than it fell all yesterday.
There’s not a doubt about it.
Snow’s moving in to stay.
It’s a day for the soft, warm snugglies.
It’s a day to turn up the heat.
It’s a day for some good hot coffee.
It’s a day for a Winter Treat!
The relentless death toll goes on up
as countless lives are lost.
The grim statistics don’t reveal
the truth of the human cost.
I’m burning a candle for you today
to keep you safe from harm.
I’ll keep a candle burning till
I know you’re home, and warm.
