I wish that I were Emperor.
I wish that I were King.
I’d order up some happiness
for ev’ry living thing.
I wish that I were Emperor.
I wish that I were King.
I’d order up some happiness
for ev’ry living thing.
Some choose truth.
And some choose lies.
And some won’t take a stand.
And when truth seekers don’t speak up,
lies get the upper hand.
A splotch of pink ‘bove the mountain tops
paints a line through a world of gray.
The soft pink light in the morning sky
sets the start for another day.
We pray for all who go to school—
to study, teach, or learn.
We pray for their safe going and
we pray for their return.
Health and wealth and happiness.
Toss in a little fun.
May this whole day be well for you
from dawn to setting sun.
This morn I tucked a blessing in
to start you on your way.
Now that little blessing’s with you
ev’ry step throughout your day.
I’ve been looking back at summer
so I clear forgot to mention
that the seasons started changing.
Now, that has my full attention.
The long, hot days of summer,
with its colors –bright and bold—
have faded into distant past.
Today, it’s just plain c-o-l-d.
The “Age of Reason”’s giving way
to the “Age of Rage and Power”.
A Killing Season spreads ‘round earth.
It is not man’s finest hour.
Today’s a day for thankfulness
and quiet gratitude.
Our lives are rich with blessings.
We have shelter. We have food.
I’m a trav’ling man.
I’ve traveled far.
I’ve covered most
this land by car.
I’ve gone by foot
and bus and train.
I’ve crossed the land…
and back again.
You’d think that I
could settle down
and build a life
in some far town.
But ev’ry morning
when it’s dawn
I grab my keys
and travel on.
