No December Book Club Meeting at my House Today

The Guv has banned our lunch today.

He says that we can’t meet.

He says that we can’t gather –

in our homes or on the street.

He says we have to Stay at Home.

Wash Hands, and Wear a Mask!

And, I am happy to comply,

and do as I am asked.

So, don’t come to my house today.

I still will think of you.

We’ll have Champagne and Bon Bons

when these Virus Days are through.

Marianna

Fairies

The fairies must have danced upon my lawn last night.

Somehow they made a shining day:–beautiful and bright.

They must have danced with joy and fun – danced with all their might,

’cause they made a day that’s full of hope, optimism, light.

What other explanation rings so clear and true?

I think it must be fairies.  Don’t you?

Northwest Dawn

The sun is rising over Cascade peaks.

Mount Baker is showing her face.

The moon is slipping away in the West.

The morning’s stepping up its pace.

Bright sky promises a crisp, cold day.

Frosted grass says the cold will stay.

Things that grow have settled to rest.

Winter’s here in the Far Northwest.
