We’ve had Bad Times before and
we will have Bad Times again.
We’re not immune from trouble
from without or from within.
We’ll do what we have always done–
we’ll search our doubting heart.
We’ll choose the road we Value
and we’ll make another start.
We’ve had Bad Times before and
we will have Bad Times again.
We’re not immune from trouble
from without or from within.
We’ll do what we have always done–

I’m trying to stay well out of trouble.
I’m living inside my COVID Bubble.
I stay pretty close to yard and home.
Any place I go, I go alone.
Ev’ry morning ‘bout half past six,
my cats start wanting their breakfast fix.
They mew and they mingle and they won’t go away,
till they get a tasty breakfast treat to start their day.
I eat my food with relish.
I eat my food with zest.
I cook food as I like it,
so I think my food’s the best.
Old Saint Nick is starting out
on his monumental task.
I hope he’ll keep his promise,
and bring all the things I ask.
I ask for peace and love and joy,
and world prosperity.
And. I hope it’s not too much to ask,
but could we end this wearing a mask?
I’m sending you a lullaby
because this day seems long.
I’m sending you a lullaby
to lift your heart with song.
There’s a cost to this pandemic.
There’s a cost to all this strife.
There’s a cost in human suff’ring.
There’s a cost in human life.
There’s a cost to all the children.
There’s a cost that takes a toll.
There’s a cost that we’re all paying.
It’s the cost to the human soul.
Don’t ask of people what they can’t do.
Don’t turn away, and say, “I’m Through!”
Don’t expect another to be
a replica of you and me.
Everyone needs a hobby,
happens Doomscrolling is mine.
I could stop and be more cheerful,
but I just don’t have the time.
It takes me every minute
to keep up with all the gloom.
My mind could be more cheerful,
but it doesn’t have the room.
Doomscrolling (or doomsurfing) is the act of consuming an endless procession of negative online news, to the detriment of the scroller’s mental wellness.
My hobby is Doomscrolling and
I like it Very Well.
I check the Web incessantly
to see what’s Going to Hell.
There’s always some New Awful
to make up the daily news.
There’s always some Big Problem
that will addle and confuse.
“They” say that it’s unhealthy,
that it makes your mind get sick–
just looking for some direful thing—
There’s Plenty…. Take Your Pick!
But, I have this Web Connection and
I use it constantly.
I look for all the Gloom and Doom
that’s on its way to me.
